Most people don’t plan to become a mobile notary but sometimes the best careers find you when you need them most. In 2020, during one of the most uncertain times, I found mine and began my journey into providing notary services in Indiana.

Like so many others, the pandemic changed everything. The company I had worked for over 20 years laid me off . . . for the second time. I was told I could reapply, just like I had before. But this time felt different. Deep down, I knew it was time to turn the page and step into a new chapter one that would eventually lead me to becoming a mobile notary signing agent.

I started exploring my options and connected with a headhunter. After completing a few assessments, I was matched with something I had never really considered before: becoming a loan signing agent.

I was intrigued.

Naturally, my next question was, “How do I become a mobile notary?”
The answer? No one really knew.

At that time, there wasn’t a clear, step-by-step roadmap for starting a notary business. No simple checklist. No “start here” guide. Just a lot of scattered information and a whole lot of figuring it out as you go.

Eventually, I found a Facebook group where experienced notary signing agents were willing to share guidance and answer questions. That’s where things finally started to click. Even then, it wasn’t an overnight process. It took several months of training, certifications, and preparation before I was ready to officially begin offering mobile notary services.

Looking back, what started as uncertainty turned into opportunity.

Today, I provide mobile notary services in Central Indiana, helping clients at their homes, offices, hospitals, and more. Whether it’s real estate closings, power of attorney documents, or general notarizations, I bring convenience and professionalism directly to my clients.

And in some cases, I even get to be part of life’s happiest moments as a wedding officiant in Indiana.

Not bad for something I never planned, right?
